If you see technology as a way to smooth your path in life, our team does too: Your Path, Our Journey.
We believe in technology that connects talented people who embrace diversity to create and share paths we don't even know about (yet!). We work to generate value not only for our users but, above all, for the communities we serve and for society as a whole, making every day better for everyone with mobility and delivery services (99) or digital payments (99Pay).
To make life easier for millions of people every day, since 2018, we have been part of DiDi DiDi Global Inc., the world’s leading mobility technology platform. We are pioneers in creating innovative solutions that start in Brazil and scale up to make a positive impact in more than 12 countries where DiDi operates. This innovation encompasses sustainability, safety, artificial intelligence, financial markets, and much more.
Whether building projects from scratch or improving our solutions, we enjoy challenges that give us butterflies, which is why we work at a fast pace with respect, collaboration, and good humor. Along this journey, we also draw strength from diverse experiences and opinions to grow together, fail quickly, learn, and adjust the course to create solutions that deliver even better results.
#LI-HybridFrom day one, you'll be part of a collaborative, global culture where your work directly influences the company’s strategy and growth. As a member of the Logistics Business Unit operations team, you’ll have a great opportunity to design and implement initiatives across all Brazil's market and continuously enhance customer online and offline experience thru our product and operations. The Logistic's BU helps individuals and businesses to solve their daily challenges of moving goods, making their life better everyday.
99Entrega is our last mile delivery service, using cars, motos, utilitaries, vans and small trucks. Be prepared for a hectic, fast paced and challenging environment.
This data driven role calls for a rare combination of analytical thinking & inter-personal ability to manage operations, sales and technical stakeholders, while being the:
Architect of Marketplace Efficiency: You will be the primary local contributor on the mathematical models and algorithmic strategies that power our three-sided crowdshipping marketplace (Shippers, Carriers, End-users). This role is the nerve center for balancing supply, demand, and cost to optimize for speed, reliability, and/or unit economics;
Technical Strategy & Translator: You will translate complex, on-the-ground operational challenges—reported by our frontline teams—into precise, mathematical problems for our Algorithm Development and Engineering teams to solve. You are the crucial "translator" between the quantitative reality of the market and the abstract world of optimization codes;
Owner of the Algorithmic Roadmap: You will not write the code, but you will define the "what" and "why" behind it. You are responsible for the strategic roadmap of our matching and dispatch algorithms, ensuring they are aligned with business goals across different service tiers (Express, Scheduled, Economic);
Modelling wizard: Your models and architectural decisions directly dictate marketplace liquidity, driver utilization, fulfillment rates, and profitability. You will ensure our technical architecture is robust enough to handle the distinct optimization paradigms of different delivery models.
Develop Optimization Strategies:
Architect the core models for real-time matching (e.g., batched vs. immediate dispatch), dynamic pricing (surge, incentives), and resource allocation to maximize successful matches and minimize cost and wait time.
Define Problem Statements for Tech Teams:
Work closely with the Algorithm Development team to specify mathematical problem statements, define objective functions, constraints, and key performance indicators for success;
Create clear business requirements and validation frameworks for hypothesis testing on new algorithmic strategies.
Synthesize Market Intelligence:
Act as the liaison between Central Operations, Local Teams, and HQ technical teams. You will gather qualitative and quantitative insights from the frontline and transform them into quantifiable, actionable algorithm briefings.
Analyze and Interpret Performance:
Conduct deep-dive analysis on marketplace performance data to diagnose bottlenecks and identify opportunities for algorithmic improvement;
Model the second-order effects of algorithm changes before they are deployed.
Quantitative & Modeling Expertise:
An advanced degree (MS or PhD is a plus) in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field;
5+ years of proven experience in designing and implementing optimization models and algorithms for large-scale, real-world marketplaces (e.g., ride-hailing, delivery, freight, or two-sided platforms);
Deep hands-on expertise with mathematical modeling concepts such as Optimization: Linear/Integer Programming, Constraint Programming, Stochastic Optimization, Routing Algorithms: Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP), Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) Matching Theory: Stable matching, combinatorial auctions.
Technical Fluency (without being a primary coder):
Proficiency with data analysis and modeling tools such as Python (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy), R, SQL, and MATLAB is a plus;
Ability to understand algorithmic complexity and architectural trade-offs to guide technical teams effectively.
Cross-Functional Leadership:
Proven experience acting as a liaison between technical and non-technical teams. You can explain a complex algorithm to a business lead and explain a business problem to a machine learning engineer with equal ease;
Experience managing stakeholders and driving consensus on technical strategy.
Domain Knowledge:
Direct experience in logistics, transportation, or last-mile delivery is a significant advantage;
Intuitive understanding of marketplace dynamics and key metrics (e.g., liquidity, utilization, density).
Personal Attributes:
Hypothesis-Driven: You approach problems with a scientific method: observe, hypothesize, test, and iterate;
Insatiably Curious: You constantly ask "why" and dig deeper into the root cause of marketplace behaviors;
Business-Oriented: You connect your mathematical work directly to business outcomes like cost savings, revenue growth, and customer retention.
Cultural Fit:
Entrepreneurial mindset—thrives in ambiguity and pivots fast in hyper-growth settings;
Exceptional communication skills, bridging technical and non-technical audiences;
Diversity is not a future vision or a wish for something we want someday; it is a non-negotiable value of who we are today.
We embrace inclusion, plurality, and respect, and to achieve this, we rely on the governance of the Diversity Committee, which works alongside HR, our leadership, and identity groups—99Adapta, 99Afro, 99Colors, 99Womem, and 99Familys.
This is our ongoing journey, with much more still to come.
