Team Overview

We are seeking a Regional Tax Leader (Senior Tax Manager) based in Colombia, responsible for overseeing all tax matters in Colombia, Chile, Argentina, and selected Spanish-speaking LATAM countries.


This role will serve as the key tax business partner for the region, ensuring compliance, driving process excellence, leading risk management, and supporting strategic business initiatives with tax efficiency and sustainable growth.


The position reports directly to the International Tax Leader based in China and will be supported by two internal tax managers, interns, outsourced staff, and external advisors.

Role Responsibilities

 



  • Tax Compliance Management

    • Oversee compliance for all municipal, state, and federal taxes, including reviewing tax calculations and draft returns, ensuring timely and accurate filings and payments.

    • Supervise monthly and annual tax obligations in accordance with local regulations and corporate policies.



  • Tax Operations & Risk Management

    • Review and assess existing tax operations to identify potential risks and opportunities.

    • Drive process improvements to enhance compliance efficiency and internal control quality.

    • Manage communication with local tax authorities, handle audits, and coordinate responses with external advisors.



  • Regulatory Monitoring & Planning

    • Monitor tax law and regulatory developments in the region.

    • Proactively assess impacts, prepare position papers, and develop forward-looking tax strategies and planning initiatives.



  • Tax Optimization & Incentives

    • Analyze the applicability of tax incentives, benefits, and special regimes.

    • Evaluate and implement strategies to optimize the group’s effective tax rate while ensuring compliance.



  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Partner with HQ tax team and cross-functional teams (Accounting, Finance, Procurement, Legal, etc.) to align local practices with global policies.

    • Provide responsive and effective tax support to business operations and strategic initiatives.



  • Business Support & Advisory

    • Support new business launches, transactions, and projects from a tax perspective.

    • Conduct business case analyses, tax impact evaluations, and provide recommendations on optimal structures and alternatives.



Role Qualifications

 



  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Law, or related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of full-time tax experience, including exposure to both direct and indirect taxes in Colombia. Tax experience in other SSL countries is a plus.

  • Technical Competence:


    • Strong command of local and regional tax laws and accounting standards.

    • Proven ability to implement tax planning strategies and manage compliance frameworks.


  • Industry Experience:


    • Prior experience in technology or multinational companies preferred.

    • Big Four experience (EY, PwC, KPMG, or Deloitte) is a strong plus.


  • Soft Skills:


    • Strategic mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

    • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.

    • Fluent in Spanish and English (both written and spoken).
