Team Overview

you will be part of the regional Government Affairs team, reporting directly to the Head of Government Affairs for Mexico. In this role, you will manage Government Affairs efforts for Mexico federal government, in one of the company’s most strategic markets, driving the development and execution of high-impact advocacy and stakeholder engagement strategies.


The position requires a strong understanding of Mexico’s political, regulatory, and public policy landscape, as well as the ability to rapidly assess complex government issues and translate them into actionable business strategies. You will work cross-functionally with regional and local teams to anticipate regulatory trends, shape policy discussions, build trusted relationships with key stakeholders, and protect and advance the company’s business objectives in a dynamic and fast-evolving environment.

Role Responsibilities

Your Responsibilities




  • Report directly to the Government Affairs Director for Mexico and work closely with the broader Government Affairs team for Spanish-Speaking Latin America (SSL) to support strategic public policy and advocacy priorities.




  • Lead and coordinate day-to-day Government Affairs activities at the country level, engaging with public authorities, regulators, legislators, industry associations, and other relevant stakeholders to help protect and advance DiDi’s business objectives.




  • Support the development and execution of advocacy strategies by identifying key political, legislative, and regulatory developments that may impact the company’s operations, reputation, and long-term growth.




  • Monitor political discussions, public policy trends, and stakeholder positions to proactively identify risks, opportunities, and emerging issues relevant to the business.




  • Build and maintain productive relationships with government officials, policymakers, external partners, and industry stakeholders at the federal, state, and local levels.




  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams including operations, legal, communications, product, finance, and business development to ensure alignment on regulatory priorities and policy developments.




  • Prepare high-quality analytical reports, policy briefings, presentations, and strategic recommendations to support leadership decision-making and advocacy efforts.




  • Represent the Government Affairs function in internal meetings, cross-functional initiatives, industry forums, and selected external engagements.




  • Contribute to the development of political and regulatory scenario analyses to support strategic planning, issue management, and risk mitigation efforts.




  • Support the execution of crisis-response and rapid stakeholder engagement strategies related to political, regulatory, or reputational challenges.




  • Manage and develop team members with a strong focus on accountability, collaboration, execution excellence, and measurable results.




  • Coordinate and oversee external consultants, advisors, trade associations, and other strategic resources to strengthen advocacy initiatives and stakeholder engagement efforts.




  • Demonstrate strong experience engaging with government officials and supporting advocacy efforts related to public policy, regulatory, and legislative matters in dynamic and highly regulated industries.




  • Operate effectively in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment, demonstrating strong judgment, strategic thinking, and execution capabilities.



Role Qualifications

The Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate


Professional Experience




  • 8+ years of progressive experience in Government Affairs, Public Policy, Regulatory Affairs, Corporate Affairs, political advisory, or related functions within the public or private sector, ideally in highly regulated or fast-evolving industries.




  • Proven track record designing and executing advocacy strategies, managing complex stakeholder environments, and influencing public policy and regulatory discussions.




  • Strong experience engaging with government officials, regulators, legislators, industry associations, and external stakeholders at the federal, state, and municipal levels in Mexico.




  • Previous experience working within government institutions, legislative bodies, regulatory agencies, or political offices in Mexico is highly desirable.




  • Experience operating in dynamic, fast-paced environments with the ability to manage sensitive issues, competing priorities, and high-pressure situations effectively.




Education




  • Master’s degree in International Relations, Law, Economics, Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration, or a related field.




  • Additional studies or executive education in regulation, economics, technology policy, or political strategy are considered a plus.




Knowledge & Expertise




  • Deep understanding of Mexico’s political, economic, and regulatory landscape, including key institutional, legislative, and electoral dynamics.




  • Strong knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes at the federal, state, and local levels, with experience monitoring and influencing policy developments.




  • Solid understanding of the regulatory environment affecting digital platforms, mobility, technology, fintech, and innovation-driven businesses in Mexico. Regional experience across Latin America is a strong plus.




  • Familiarity with the main policy areas impacting DiDi’s business, including transportation, labor, digital platforms, financial services, payments, taxation, consumer protection, public safety, data privacy, artificial intelligence, and sustainability.




  • Ability to identify emerging political and regulatory trends and translate them into actionable business insights and advocacy opportunities.

  • Strong strategic thinking and political acumen, with the ability to assess complex environments, anticipate risks, and support business-oriented policy solutions.




  • Demonstrated project management capabilities, including successful delivery of advocacy strategies, stakeholder engagement plans, policy analyses, and cross-functional initiatives.




  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience in political analysis, scenario planning, data analysis, visualization, literature research, and executive-level report writing.




  • Outstanding communication and influencing skills, with the ability to develop clear, persuasive messaging and engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.




  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building capabilities, with the ability to build credibility and trust across government, industry, and internal business teams.




  • Experience managing consultants, external advisors, industry chambers, or government affairs agencies is highly valuable.




  • High level of initiative, adaptability, ownership, and execution focus, with the ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple teams and functions.




Languages




  • Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and spoken, with strong presentation and executive communication skills in both languages.
