Team Overview

The Merchant Operations team is one of the core B-side teams within 99Grocery, responsible for shaping and driving key operational rules, processes, and product capabilities across the merchant ecosystem.


We are both deeply local and truly international. Our team combines members with extensive experience in the Brazilian market with talents from diverse countries and backgrounds, bringing together strong local insights and global perspectives. This unique combination enables us to understand the complexities of the local market while continuously exploring and building solutions with a global mindset.

Role Responsibilities


  • Lead the project management of strategic and high-impact operational initiatives.

  • Act as the project leader, collaborating with multiple Operations teams across the organization to initiate, drive, and successfully implement projects.

  • Build close relationships with merchants and platform partners, collect and synthesize merchant feedback into actionable market insights, and leverage these insights to drive project development and execution.

  • Identify and translate merchant needs into product requirements and capabilities, working closely with Product and Product Operations teams to develop and launch new product features.

Role Qualifications


  • Strong hands-on experience and solid industry knowledge of the Brazilian retail market, particularly the grocery and supermarket sector, with a deep understanding of in-store operations and workflows.

  • Good understanding of online retail operations. Familiarity with the operations of major on-demand grocery / food delivery platforms is a strong plus.

  • Solid project management experience, particularly in leading cross-functional projects. Familiarity with common project management tools and methodologies.

  • Excellent external communication and market research skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with merchants and partners.

  • Results-oriented, pragmatic, and highly detail-oriented.

  • Basic analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and support business decision-making.

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.

  • Fluency in both Portuguese and English. Chinese proficiency is a strong plus.
